Sedum Coca Cola (scientifically known as Hylotelephium cauticola 'Coca-Cola') is a charming, cliff-dwelling alpine succulent. Native to Japan, it is famed for its trailing habit, silvery-blue foliage, and sudden bursts of vivid pink flowers in late summer.
-
The name is inspired by the plant's unique look. The plump, chalky blue-green leaves readily develop a beautiful reddish blush in direct sunlight, resembling the classic color and branding of the soft drink.
-
Though it blooms late in the season (from July to September), it is an essential seasonal food source for late-flying butterflies, bees, and other pollinators when nectar is scarce.
- This plant loves to hang out over edges. Its flexible, sprawling stems will cascade beautifully over the sides of rockeries, hanging baskets, or raised gravel beds, making it a favourite for landscaping.
- Because of its cliff-dwelling roots, it thrives in poor, rocky, and fast-draining soils. Once established, it can easily survive dry spells and heat waves.
